Root Canals (Endodontics) |
|
A root canal is a treatment used to repair and save a tooth that is badly decayed or becomes infected. When a tooth's nerve tissue or pulp is damaged, it breaks down and bacteria begin to multiply within the pulp chamber. The bacteria and other decayed debris can cause an infection or abscessed tooth. During a root canal procedure the pulp (nerve and blood supply) is removed from the center of the tooth and a root canal filler is placed. After most root canal procedures a crown will be needed to restore the tooth.
At East Milton Dental we are eager to take you out of pain. Once you are comfortable we will either do the root canal treatment ourselves or we will send you to an Endodontist who specializes in root canal therapy if we think they are better suited to help you with that specific tooth.
