Kids Check Ups & Cleanings

A child’s first visit to the dentist should be enjoyable. The American Dental Association recommends that children be seen by a dentist before the age of one. We are dedicated to the oral health of children from infancy through the teenage years. The very young, pre-teens, and teenagers all need different approaches in dealing with their behavior, guiding their dental growth and development, and helping them avoid future dental problems.

Fillings & Sealants

Our white, metal-free fillings are mercury-free and provide a better structural and aesthetic result. White fillings are done conservatively removing less tooth structure than traditional metal fillings.

Composite dental sealants can preserve your child’s teeth by protecting against cavities and acting as a barrier from food and bacteria.

Education

We take the time to educate patients and their parents about the importance of oral health and preventative care. Start your child on a journey toward excellent oral health by scheduling an appointment with us today!

Orthodontic Screening

As your child grows, you may wonder when they should be evaluated for braces or if anything can be done preventatively. The American Association of Orthodontists recommends an orthodontic screening no later than age 7. East Milton Dental provides an initial screening service to detect potential problems with the development of your child’s teeth or bite. After assessing the child, Dr. Regan can recommend if there is a need to see an orthodontist and if so, the appropriate developmental timing to do so.

Emergency Visits / Trauma

More than 40% of kids experience some kind of dental trauma in their childhood. Kids are fun and energetic and naturally more prone to injury! As parents we need to remember that the injury is more traumatic to us than them. However, how the initial trauma is managed can have long term effects. Even trauma to "baby teeth" can cause damage to underlying developing adult teeth. It is important to call the emergency line and speak with Dr. Regan when the trauma occurs. We are always on call for dental emergencies involving pain, bleeding or swelling, such as a toothache or trauma.

Grinding Solutions

Parents are often concerned about the nocturnal grinding of teeth (bruxism). If excessive wear of the teeth (attrition) is present, then Dr. Regan will evaluate your child’s mouth and teeth, along with their airway to see what is causing the grinding.

Fluoride Treatment

Fluoride helps prevent tooth decay by defending your teeth against acid attacks caused by plaque bacteria and sugars in your mouth. Amazingly, it can also reverse early tooth decay. For kids younger than 6 years, fluoride is important for the development of permanent teeth. Strong enamel makes it more difficult for acids to demineralize the teeth leading to cavities throughout their lifetime.
