Root Planing & Scaling

(Deep Cleaning)

The best way to prevent gum disease is effective daily brushing and flossing as well as regular professional examinations and cleanings. Unfortunately, even with the most diligent home care, some people still can develop periodontal disease.

Scaling and root planing is a deeper dental cleaning procedure. This is done to treat patients with current or developing periodontal disease. Not all patients need this level of cleaning, but it is a very important procedure for those patients who do.

During this treatment we will clean below the gum line, using local anesthetic to ensure that you are as comfortable as possible.

Fluoride Treatment

Fluoride helps prevent tooth decay by defending your teeth against acid attacks caused by plaque bacteria and sugars in your mouth. Amazingly, it can also reverse early tooth decay. For kids younger than 6 years, fluoride is important for the development of permanent teeth. Strong enamel makes it more difficult for acids to demineralize the teeth leading to cavities throughout their lifetime.

Check Ups

Routine dental exams are an important part of maintaining your oral health. Even if you take great care of your teeth and gums at home, it’s important to visit your dentist at least twice a year for regular checkups. At East Milton Dental, you’ll have access to one of the most advanced dental practices in Greater Boston.
